East Belfast Boy (Rehearsed Reading/Fundraiser) live at the New Shoreditch Theatre

  • RED GALLERY 1-3 Rivington Street London, England, EC2A 3DT United Kingdom (map)

Friday, April 22, 2016 -

19:00 to 22:00

East Belfast Boy is a story about a young man from a disenfranchised part of Northern Ireland in the 21st century. An area that although not facing the turmoil of the 70s to 90s still struggles to provide engagement for its young people.

The play deals with a young man trying to make something of his life, in this case organizing raves on the weekends around Belfast. It was devised and created by Partisan Productions and the Ballymac Friendship Trust, a community project working in East Belfast, an often under-represented area.

The New Shoreditch Theatre are happy to be working on this production as it's opening show for this new theater space in Old Street. This play perfectly encapsulates the spirit of inclusiveness and representation that the theater was established on. We hope to bring lesser known narratives and characters to the fore and present unique and challenging theater in the heart of Shoreditch.

This production is a rehearsed reading of the play text as a fundraiser for a theatrically produced run early next year.'
