Shigeto Charles Trees FRIDAY 30 SEPTEMBER

  • red gallery 1-3 Rivington Street London, England, EC2A 3DT United Kingdom (map)

Having sold out his 3 night residency at echoes, Soundcrash are extremely happy to announce that one of Detroit’s brightest talents, Shigeto, will be performing an extra date at Kamio, Shoreditch.

This EPs Semi-Circle and What We Held Onto explored his grandmother’s experience from a US internment camp through ambient, beat-driven tracks, using samples of his grandmother’s voice. His debut album Full Circle was a culmination of these EPs, employing obsessive field recording and meticulous percussion to create sumptuous instrumental hip-hop. 2012’s sophomore album Lineage was a musical journey through his heritage set to the sounds of jazz, hip-hop, funk and folk. And 2013’s No Better Time Than Now was an album about living in the moment, with songs that seemed to be harbingers of change and immediacy (“First Saturn Return,” “Soul Searching”).

On his latest EP Intermission, released in late 2015, Saginaw places all of those disparate sounds side by side, offering a snapshot both of where he has been as an artist, as well as where he is going

Shigeto’s live sets are sculpted using a mixture of his prodigious live drum grooves and layers of of his trademark lush and organic electronic textures. They’re compelling nature has seen Shigeto draw monster crowds to venues such as KOKO and Village Underground.

London performances from this sound-mangling electronica artist are rare so make sure you grab yourself a spot before they're gone!
